Who Needs FB?

A couple of months ago, I casually mentioned to my sister, Crash, that my husband’s 40th birthday had come and gone.

“What?!!!!” she said.  “I didn’t know that!  Tell him I’ve got a card, but it’s gonna be late.”

“O.K.”  This has been a major concern of my husband’s for weeks, I am certain, that my sister did not remember his birthday.

“If you’re not on Facebook, I can’t be expected to remember your birthday,” she chided.

“Hmm.  That’s good to know,” I replied.  Yet another discriminatory remark against those of us not part of the FB cult.

Anyway, this is a long way of saying that I don’t rely on Facebook to remind me of people’s birthdays.  Which is good because I don’t use Facebook.

However, a little bird told me that our blog pal, The Hobbler, is celebrating her special day today.

So, I would like to say a big ole “HAPPY HOBBLING BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HOBBLER!!!!!”

You might actually be someone other than The Hobbler, and are probably wondering by now why you are even reading this post.  I will direct you now to one of The Hobbler’s Top Tens, and you can thank me later.  Just don’t forget.  You know – to come back and thank me.

  1. You are so sweet! This is kind of crazy. The little bird must have a big mouth. 😉 thank you so much for this. I absolutely love you and your blog, and I’m not just saying that because of the birthday thing, or the computer is taking over thing.

  2. Aw, what a great blog. Thanks for introducing me!

  3. Facebook is evil.
Pretty sure that means the Villainess Hobbler is on it.
    Happy Birthday Hobs!

  4. I am horrible at remembering birthdays, yet am sad when mine is forgotten 🙂

  5. I don’t even put my birthday on facebook. I don’t want people to wish me a happy birthday just because facebook told them to. It seems less special that way.
    Seriously cute segway, though!

  6. hmmm couldn;t figure out how you were going about this with facebook.. but you sure did 🙂 or actually..without fb.

    • Sometimes I take very crooked paths on the way to revealing my topic.

      • i can relate to that… yup. makes sense to me. I do that a lot.. and to answer you question about what the lady said about me asking about the wonderbutt dog? she kinda laughed like she thought she shoud know what I was talking about and walked the other way..I thought I saw her shaking her head and heard her mumble what the hell – if I get asked if this dog is a Wonderbutt dog one more time 😉 testament to the fact you must have a bunch of followers here in my area… ( i didn;t really hear what or IF she was mumbling..I just assume she was 🙂

  7. happy birthday, hobbler! and, whatimeant2say – facebook is quite fun for those of us who do not take ourselves too seriously and have wickedly great senses of humor. ;o) AND it helps to remember birthday when your memory is like mine (because most people i know were not born five minutes ago).

    • See, that’s where the problem is – I take myself far too seriously. And now Crash tells me that I missed “May the Fourth be With You” day since I am not on FB. I feel deprived.

  8. I guess i will post my opinion about this blog on fb lol

  9. PS I knew i didnt see Dimples swim bag in the car pic i showed!! PS Today was not a day to miss my fb post! My daughter’s license plate letters looked so familiar to me. It only took like six months to realize why. ABH!!

  10. We thank you!
    Bella and DiDi

  11. Yaaay, whatimeant2say – great post!! and you picked an awesome post of Hobb’s to pingback to too…

and I agree – FB is just a social medium like the Mall of America is just a shopping center!!! I hate FB!!

    🙂
