Actually, We Don’t Read Any Books for Our “Book Club” Either

Our bulldog, Wonderbutt, seemed a bit miffed last night when I squeezed out the front door without him on my way to my monthly Book Club meeting.  My suspicions were confirmed when he texted me in the middle of my dinner.

  1. As a diabetic, I’m hurt that my doctor never suggested that one to me.
So, did it go better with mustard or ranch dressing?

  2. Let’s just hope his lack of interest towards furniture has not turned into a passion for books… 🙂

    • Actually, books were his first love. Or carpeting. I can’t remember which he demolished initially as a puppy, but he turned to furniture late in life – about 6 months.

  3. Perhaps with a dab of catsup???

  4. SUCH a learned bulldog…

  5. I have that book home from the library, but haven’t read it. Maybe Wonderbutt and I can discuss it! Or, I’ll read it to Elka, and they can be pen pals (paw pals?)

    • Wonderbutt would prefer to discuss its culinary promise, rather than the literary aspects.

      • I think I’ve heard it’s the glue in books that makes them smell so delicious? But of course, newer books don’t really smell the same way old books do. There are some books my library owns that I just have to take a whiff of every once in awhile (especially those gilt-edged leather bound ones with the silky ribbon bookmark…..)

  6. Good for you Wonderbutt. I also have a bookclub but, mostly, we have no idea where the books are (probably also being eaten by our dogs somewhere). In truth, it’s a wine and dinner club, called bookclub so the men get scared off and leave us alone.

  7. I would like to join WB’s book club. I love not reading. I’ll not read on Mom’s Kindle.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  8. Maybe you should give him an actual diabetic owl.

    • We apparently have an owl in our backyard, but we can’t seem to find him. We hear him in the mornings. Maybe this summer I will hunt him down and give him a blood test. I’m sure eating all of those mice can’t be good for your cholesterol, though I’m not sure if they induce diabetes.

  9. As an actual member of the “book” club, I declare WB an honorary member! Maybe as a member he is trying to suggest our “next” book.

  10. Ahhh I’m dying to read the new David! Wonderbutt clearly has wonderful taste.

  11. he’s such an erudite bulldog.

  12. hey such a wonderful and totally awesome pet. He seems to says, nothing comes between me and my book. You have great companion:)

    • Actually, he is saying, “Nothing comes between me and my human – including the book that she is spending far too much time paying attention to instead of me so I obviously must eat it and make it disappear and then she will always play with me and never leave me.”
